A bookmarklet is just a dumb name for a snippet of javascript code that will enable you to do cool stuff. You can quickly look up a word on dictionary.com, or highlight specific words in a document. These are very useful, and very powerful functions that can enable you to do a lot, in a short amount of time. Check out this list (Here’s hoping they work on the iPod Touch):

Engadget seems to think so.
The question is, why would Apple do this? The obvious answers are, you need to have differences between the iPhone and the iPod Touch, but eliminating such an awesome feature feels more cheap than anything. Give the iPod different functionality if you want it to be differentiated, don’t take away from it, when the technology is obviously there.
Regardless of Apple’s move here, there will be work arounds, and programs that will be able to add back any type of Calendar options you want eventually. So don’t worry!

If you were worried the iPod touch was just an iPhone without the phone, than you should still be worried.
iPod touch will be able to run all those cool third party programs that are out for the iPhone, this means, Mail, Weather, Google Maps and Stocks will be at the touch of a … Button? A touch of the finger!
